Lightroom Presets

Working with Lightroom Presets

Without doubt, one of the most common things I get asked in connection with Adobe Lightroom, is just how to add presets.  Most people seem to know what they are – but they are not sure how to add them or create them.

What are Presets?

Imagine you want your photographs to have a distinct look or feel.

In the same way that Hollywood adds atmosphere or mood to a scene by the way the cinematography looks (usually created in post production by a colourist), you can create mood to your images by adding pre-constructed effects (presets).

Presets can be bought and downloaded online, you can create them yourself or… you can use one of the many presets that come as standard with Lightroom.

This short tutorial with explain how to create your own presets (really simple) and point out some pitfalls to avoid.
